Frequently Asked Questions

  • Showcase occurs every January.

  • Participating schools are given registration information each fall that details the registration process and what participants need to submit for their audition pieces. Only participants belonging to participating schools or those who fall into the New Faces category are able to participate.

  • All auditions are delivered via Self-Tape. Each student is able to record two pieces that showcase that put their best foot forward, that are no longer than 3 minutes each. The pieces can be a monologue, scenes with off-camera readers, dance reel, or song. All participants will submit their two pieces in MP4 format, a resume in PDF format, and a headshot in JPEG format. They will be uploaded to Casting Workbook into special links created specifically for NGS. participants DO NOT have to have a Casting Workbook profile to participate in the program. Casting Workbook links will be distributed to industry members who RSVP from across the country. Links will remain active for six months, once they deactivate, industry members can request student audition packages from NGS at any time.

  • Please ensure your self-tapes are filmed with proper lighting, a clean neutral background, and are framed properly. Please make sure your tapes are filmed in one take and are unedited.

For more detailed tips please see here.

  • Once participants have submitted their audition packages by the deadline indicated in the registration packages, Casting Workbook will work to create the links that industry members will use to view student auditions. NGS will then send out a digital program complete with all of the participants’ headshots and Casting Workbook links.

  • NGS is as much about participants showcasing their incredible talents as it is about connecting them with one another and the industry they are entering. NGS is focused on providing educational programming through workshops and panels that take place over showcase weekend. In addition to educational programming, we host a networking lunch that allows participants to connect with one another and industry members. There are also multiple performance opportunities for participants to take the stage and share their gifts with interested industry guests and other participants.
